Mediating labor disputes is really an extension of bargaining.  As a lead negotiator for over 20 years, I’ve learned how to move both sides into a zone of agreement.  

This requires strong persuasive skills, such as knowing how to marshal your best evidence and how to make your best arguments; excellent listening skills, as you must understand how the other side sees an issue before you can solve it; an inordinate attention to detail in making written proposals and counters; and a tenacious commitment to finding win-win solutions.
